Remove Extra Spaces

Clean up messy text by collapsing extra spaces and blank lines.

What does this tool do?

Remove Extra Spaces cleans up text that has been copied from a PDF, a chat app or an old document, where double spaces, stray tabs and extra blank lines tend to pile up. It collapses repeated spaces into a single space, trims leading and trailing whitespace from each line, and optionally squashes multiple blank lines down to one — or removes them entirely.

How to use it

  1. Paste your text into the input box.
  2. Choose which cleanup options you want using the checkboxes.
  3. Click Clean Text and copy the result with one click.

This is a common pre-processing step before pasting text into a CMS, an email, or a spreadsheet cell, since extra whitespace can break formatting or make plain-text comparisons fail. It is also useful for cleaning up code snippets, CSV-like data, or text extracted from a scanned document where OCR software often inserts irregular spacing. The tool only touches spaces, tabs and blank lines — it never changes the wording, capitalization or punctuation of your text, so the meaning stays exactly the same while the formatting becomes consistent and easy to reuse anywhere.
